Throughout her professional journey, she has worked closely with children, parents, and educators, developing a strong understanding of the different academic, developmental, and career-related needs of students. Through The Guiding Nest, she aims to provide personalised career guidance that helps students understand their potential and make informed decisions about their future.
Currently associated with DAV International School as a School Coordinator, Gurprit Kaur is involved in curriculum planning and execution. Her experience in the school environment has given her valuable exposure to students and the educational processes that shape their academic journey. This experience enables her to understand the importance of supporting students not only academically but also in developing awareness about their strengths, interests, abilities, and future possibilities.
Before her current role, Gurprit Kaur worked with Synergy Public Relation as a P.R.O. in the corporate sector. Her responsibilities included making press releases and holding events. Her experience across both education and corporate environments has provided her with a broader perspective that she brings to her career counselling practice.
Gurprit Kaur holds a Graduation in Psychology from Sushilawati College and has also studied Public Relation Management in Mass Media at YWCA, Delhi. Her educational background in psychology complements her experience in education and contributes to her interest in understanding students as individuals. This foundation supports her approach of helping learners explore their interests, abilities, strengths, and aspirations before making important career decisions.
To further develop her expertise in career counselling, Gurprit Kaur has completed the Super Career Counselor Course from UCLA. She has also served as a Master Trainer in Early Childhood Education and conducted teacher training programmes and workshops focused on child development, play pedagogy, life skills, and holistic learning. These experiences have strengthened her understanding of children's development and individual learning needs.
Gurprit Kaur's motivation to enter the career counselling profession comes from her many years of working closely with children and observing the confusion and pressure students often experience while making career choices. She believes that every child is unique and possesses different strengths, interests, and potential. Her objective is to help students move towards career decisions based on self-awareness and informed exploration rather than marks, comparison, or peer pressure.
Her counselling approach is personalised and empathetic, with a focus on understanding the student as an individual. Rather than simply suggesting a career based on academic performance, she aims to help students explore their strengths, interests, abilities, and aspirations and connect these with suitable career pathways. She believes that career guidance should encourage self-discovery, clarity, confidence, and informed decision-making.
Through The Guiding Nest, Gurprit Kaur aims to build a trusted and student-centric career counselling platform for students and parents. Her vision includes providing personalised career counselling, career awareness workshops, school programmes, and online guidance while creating greater awareness about diverse, emerging, and future-oriented career opportunities. She aspires to help students discover their potential and confidently plan their future.
